Men in the Kitchen - Saturday 25Jan
For the gentlemen who received this class as their Christmas present, today was the day for inspiration in the kitchen. Today there were six different dishes to demonstrate in two hours. During this time they learnt how to use knives correctly, chopping onions and leeks and filleting fish. They saw the benefits of making your own spice mix for a lamb curry, found out the pitfalls when making a sauce béchamel and saw me demonstrate an easy but impressive fish pie. This was probably the favourite dish, with at least three of them heading home to recreate this at home. I’m looking forward to hearing about the results. Orange and brandy pancakes followed the main dishes and a nice glass of Rioja complemented the meal. All that was needed, apparently, was a nice lie down!!
